Alice Bian is an undergraduate at Rice University. She is double majoring in Studio Arts and Architecture. She is very interested in exploring geometry and field logic within her projects, while exploring issues regarding domesticity and membrane typologies. Funded by the Houston Design Research Grant, she conducted research with Stuti Mehta on open ditch drainage systems in Houston in 2024 summer. In their research, they focused on the immediate interventions that residents could take when facing the flash flooding reoccurrences.

Currently, Alice is the Design Director of PLAT 13 Alchemy, a student run architecture journal at Rice. In previous years, she was the Development Director and Copy Editor of previous issues. In 2023 summer, she interned at BRAVE/, a firm in Houston, and she is looking forward to the preceptorship the following year.
